Ġnien il-Kmandant, also known as Luqa Briffa Gardens, is located just south of St. Gregory’s. It was introduced by Sir Alexander Ball, the first British Governor, as a reward for Maltese leaders following their successful uprising against the French. Among the gardens he established, Żejtun’s is the most impressive and the only one open to the public. The garden was later renamed after Luqa Briffa, a hero of the Great Siege of 1565. Designed by Żejtun architect Michael Cachia, it features a variety of rare trees within its walled grounds.
