Wied Fulija, once a sprawling landfill, has been beautifully transformed into a 91,000m² green public haven. Through a €4.5 million EU-funded project, 43,000 trees and shrubs were planted, stabilising and landscaping the area to support local biodiversity, including the Maltese honey bee and Scopoli’s Shearwater. With winding pathways inviting exploration, this rejuvenated space now offers a tranquil retreat for the residents of Żurrieq and visitors alike. A stunning example of environmental restoration, Wied Fulija showcases nature’s resilience and the power of renewal.
