This open space overlooking the Grand Harbour, also known as Fuq is-Simenta, is a recreational area. Built in the 19th century, it is a neoclassical viewpoint, often called a loggia or terrace, offering views of one of Malta’s most famous harbors. The Belvedere is located on Triq La Valette, named after Jean Parisot de Valette, the Grand Master of the Knights of St. John, who was key in defending Malta during the Ottoman siege. Its location highlights Birgu’s important maritime history.
