The Formal Garden, located within the National Park in Ta’ Qali, spans approximately 16,000 square meters and is a significant ongoing project. Designed by the late architect Joseph Spiteri in the 1990s, the garden has seen various enhancements. These include modern paving over 26,000 square meters, the addition of trees, shrubs, plants, and turf, and an upgraded rainwater collection system and reservoir. A new irrigation system, a dedicated area for art exhibitions, and a rehabilitated amphitheater have been added. The park also features updated sanitary facilities, restored fountains, intelligent lighting, CCTV coverage, and new street furniture.
