Located just off the renowned Castille Square, one of Valletta’s most iconic piazzas, the Upper Barrakka Gardens are among Malta’s most frequented attractions, celebrated for their beauty and rich history.
These gardens provide sweeping views of Valletta’s Grand Harbour and Vittoriosa’s Grand Harbour Marina. Every day at 12 pm and 4 pm, visitors can enjoy the spectacle of cannon fire from the Saluting Battery below. While today the firing is ceremonial, in the 16th century, it served to defend the city from the Ottoman Empire.
The Upper Barrakka Gardens also feature a lift that connects the gardens to the Grand Harbour.
