Ġnien tal‑Fuklar

The project converts a neglected, concrete‑dominated site into Ġnien tal‑Fuklar, a functional and ecological public garden that enhances the surrounding environment. All existing vegetation was preserved, while concrete areas were replaced with soil to allow the planting of 25 new trees and 283 shrubs. Permeable paving, shaded seating, and accessible, barrier‑free pathways improve usability and environmental performance. Two previously separate gardens were connected to strengthen pedestrian flow and integration with the urban context. Features such as a gazebo, trellises, and biodiversity‑supporting plants enrich the space, while irrigation from an existing reservoir ensures sustainable water use.
