More Information

Ġnien Tony Bezzina in Paola has been regenerated, turning a 2,600 m² urban area into a modern, accessible community space. The project includes Malta’s first professionally designed skatepark built to European standards, along with benches, pathways, lighting and public facilities. Sustainability was central to the design, a reservoir now supplies irrigation for plants and trees, while solar panels power the garden’s lighting. The regenerated site was renamed in honour of the late Paola businessman Tony Bezzina, best known as the president of his hometown football club Hibernians FC for a staggering 43 years – between 1978 and his death in 2021 at the age of 72. A bust of Bezzina has been installed on site.
